A customer must ensure that he/she has sufficient balance/validity to send SMS to chargeable short code 1900. After sending the PORT OUT message, a UPC (Unique Port Code) will be generated and will be intimated to you by an SMS from short code 1901. Currently, the UPC has five days validity which means PORT OUT from the existing service provider to the new provider must be completed before the UPC expires.
How to get BSNL UPC code online?
To obtain the Unique Porting Code(UPC), you need to send SMS to 1900 in the format ‘Port Space 10 digit mobile number”. Jammu & Kashmir pre-paid subscribers, will have to call 1900 instead of sending the SMS. The allocated UPC will be valid for fifteen days from the date of the request or till the number is ported out, whichever is earlier. This applies to all the states except for Assam, Jammu & Kashmir, and North East. For these states, the validity of UPC shall be for thirty days from the date of the request or till the time the number is ported out, whichever is earlier regardless of the number of requests the subscriber makes. So, if you are not getting UPC code from BSNL, you need to recharge with Rs.147 if you don’t have an unlimited calling offer with 30 days validity. If your current plan is having more than 30 days of validity that includes voice calling benefits, you do not need any additional recharge vouchers.
